Challenge 4

Culture was the main discussion in the class this time, we read a story about some culture where people did some nasty thing to them self but then when we had read the whole thing and start discussing about it we find out that this culture was our own culture, Western Europe and USA. It shows us that our own culture can be nasty and nice but it depends on who and how it is told.
So it is important to be aware of that then you are a teacher and talking about other cultures than your own.

Here are some questions from the class I am going to answer from my point of view.

Why is it important to be aware of and have knowledge about the concept of culture when working as a social worker or teacher?
When you work as a social worker or teacher you meet a lot of different people who have different culture and habitants and I think that it is good to have some ideas about this things and then you can understand some different behaviors that people do, but it is also important to look at people as special people and not only someone form some culture

What challenges do you see in the concept of culture?
As a professional teacher I think that it is good for you to have some concept of culture and to know the background of your students and know some of the culture they have been living with. But it is also important to be aware that pupils who have been living with same or simpler culture are not the same and they have had different lives and experience. It can also be possible that pupils who have totally different culture are more simpler then pupils who have the same.
Even though it is good to be aware of the culture that your students have you cannot put them  in types because of their culture and stereotype them after that.
The same applies when you are teaching pupils about different cultures and habits you cannot stereotype them or talk about that one culture is better than the other.
I think also that is good to look at a culture as something that people live with and have but not something that people are.

Is the concept useful when we talk about human differences? / If yes why- If no why?
I think that you can answer this question both yes and no.
Yes in some they it is useful to look at peoples cultures when you think about human differences because peoples from same cultures can have lots of similarities habits and other things in there lives.
But then also you can say No because even though you have same cultures as some other peoples you are very different persons and maybe have nothing in common.
